Ifthar 2017

Jasra Saneer The annual District Rotaract Ifthar was held for the 8th consecutive time on the 17th of June 2017 (which corresponded to the month of Ramazan in the Islamic calendar) from 5:30pm onward at the residence of Rtr. PP Aneez Anver in Mosque Lane, Rajagiriya. There were around 16 organising clubs who hosted “Ifthar 2017” to make it a success. The Rotaract Club of CCS was proud to have been invited to be a part of the Ifthar ceremony that promised a great evening of fellowship and yes, food! A group of our members led by Rtr. IPP Imasha Yapa and president, Rtr. Dilendra Nilupuli Wijesekara, attended the Ifthar along with other Rotaractors who were present in numbers. The Ifthar started off with the Islamic ritual of biting into dates when the call for prayer was announced, followed by the savouring of the mandotary porridge also known as “kanji''. Rotaract Zest 2017

   By Rtr. Saarah Hamdoon The Rotaract Club of CCS was initiated in the year 2012 under the presidency of Rtr. Gautham Kumar. Over this period of five years, the club has seen immense growth and has flourished with every passing year. The new board of directors for the year 2017/18, lead by president Rtr. Dilendra Wijesekara, commenced their year with their opening project “Rotaract Zest” on the 3rd of July 2017. Co-chaired by Rtr. Nethma Wethalawe and Rtr. Haneen Packeerally, the aim of Rotaract Zest was to introduce the first-year students of the college to the Rotaract Club and to recruit new members. Dr Ranmal Gunatileke addressing the gathering The enthusiastic and eager students of the first year were warmly welcomed by the board and were later addressed by Dr. Ranmal Gunatileke, a senior lecturer of the College of Chemical Sciences, who emphasized on the important role played by extra-curricular activities in shaping students into complete individuals.
