My Vote- My Future I got registered, did u? By Rtr. Nethmie Jayasooriya There was an era where politics was one of the most hideous topics among the youth culture in Sri Lanka. Therefore this campaign #YouthVoteSL was brought up to strengthen the youth voter education and engagement. #YouthVoteSL is a project initiated by the Rotaract district 3220-Sri Lanka to mark the International Youth Day in collaboration of the Election Commission of Sri Lanka and the International Foundation for Election Systems. The ultimate objective of the campaign is to raise awareness of the voting rights for all youth above 18 years and to encourage youth to register in the Electoral register. “I got registered, did u?” Follow this link to get registered. http://www.elections.gov.lk/web/index.php/en/top-stories/revision-of-electoral-register-2016 Follow this link for more information. https://www.facebook.com/YouthVoteSL/?fref=ts

Smashes from Carom Bash 2k16! By Rtr. Raven Venthan. Long awaited  Carom  Bash tournament for  Carom  lovers was held on 15 th August, 2016 by Rotaract club of CCS. The event was nerve breaking that every second was spent around the board with crowd clashing with supports with lots of unpredictable combos from unimaginably talented players from our CCS. It felt like a life time for all the players at the board. The event started after lighting of the traditional oil lamp and with the blessings from the dean of College of Chemical Sciences, Professor P. Paranagama and all other professors and lecturers. Then the exciting game of carom started with men’s only tournaments. Each team player was categorized randomly into groups and each game winner from the perticular category was chosen according to the points. The rules and the criteria for qualifying for quarterfinals, semi-finals and finals were mentioned before the game by Rtr. Pathum. Then exciting game of carom started wi

By- Rtr Ronak Jain So, this is a write up where I will be sharing my experience of 5 days at Sri Lanka where I went for ROTASIA. I, Rtr Ronak Jain, with the fellow rotaractors, Rtr DRRN Ronnie Vaishnav, Rtr District Advisor Rakshit Toke and Rtr Hardik Gupta, were here at Sri Lanka for the mega event Rotasia-16, hosted by RID 3220. It was a fun filled journey and a life time experience for me to enjoy those 5 days and we did it to the fullest. With many new friends, and on the whole, the Rotaract family, it was never gonna be strange. Many thanks to the host district RID 3220 for handling the whole event so well that we did not face any problem. After the event got completed, we stayed there for a couple of days more to enjoy the beauty of the paradise. Those couple of days were the most memorable ones as we were hosted by the rotaractors of RC CCS and RC Singer. They hosted us very well and helped us in each and every possible way to enjoy and experience some of the amazin

Light up a life

Image
By- Rtr. Nethmie Jayasooriya Each and every one of us is different and that’s what makes our world a beautiful place. Every single human life is precious and should be treated equally. But sadly a part of our society has been categorized as "differently abled kids." It is quite true that they need some special care and attention and they may not be able to contribute to the community to a great extent, but they deserve to be happy and they deserve to be treated as an important part of the society. Why can’t we accept the fact that they are no different than us and they are also in need of love, care and appreciation just like the rest of us? Unfortunately in Sri lanka most of the society treats a disabled kid as a cripple or handicap. The general public does not find it important to direct such kids towards education and aesthetics. With the aim of promoting such a worthy cause, the project "Light Up a Life" was brought up.  For the 14th

By Rtr. Ashen Samaranayake Sri Lanka is a country where amazing people live who love cricket as much as their national sport.Identifying their passion towards cricket, the Rotaract Club of CCS decided to help young enthusiastic cricketers to step-up one more step in achieving their dreams. And how did we do this? “Cricketeract ’15” invited the best coaches in the country in which one would be lucky enough to have. On this special day, November 08th 2015, at Thurstan college sports complex, there were the huge eager eyes of cricket fanatics waiting to be coached by the finest in the island with their passionate young hearts beating to the rhythm of cricket. Everyone was so excited I bet even the grass on the ground felt the cricket. The energetic and enthusiastic young cricketers wasted no time in acquiring the international level techniques from the national level coaches and mixing them together with their own skills. Cricket is not just a game that anyon

BE THE LIGHT…

That turns away their darkness By Rtr. Raven Imagine a world where each person is a hero saving millions from threat. Picture a world where people are heavenly angels, illuminating the future of the young and old. How peaceful would this world be? So full of warmth and happiness. But this sounds like a fairy tale doesn’t it? Like it can never be possible at all in reality. But what if I told you a single decision made by you can change a hopeless person into a hero who could most probably end up changing the world? Imagine an era where famous scientists - Charles Darwin, Albert Einstein for example - were born blind or they lost their sight in their flow of life. What if they spent their lives hopeless and helpless not being able to change our world into what it has become today? Can you imagine how much  a difference a person could make with just one pair of eyes? You have the power to change a hopeless person into a human who could end up changing the world for

#Be Their Smile

Image
By Rtr. Afnan Azeem Some people say that their life sucks, and that nothing could possibly get any worse, some people you meet in your life are  so  gloomy that you see no hope in their eyes when you look into them.... But when we walked into the Maharagama cancer hospital on the  14th of august, we realized that the single most bravest thing we can do is to look through all out troubles, all our defeats and smile. Smile so that we can give ourselves and others hope. We saw children there who smiled and laughed, clapped and sang, danced and made merriment with us despite all the harsh fates life had dealt to them. We saw their faces light up with delight when they saw all the balloons and the fun events we had for them, and it was then that I truly understood that if these children have the strength of mind to smile and have hope after all that life has put them through, then we should take an example from them and be strong as they are. As rotaract club of CCS we ma
