The National Day of Giving, also known as Giving Tuesday, is a global movement that takes place on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. This year it follows on the 28th of November 2023. It's a day dedicated to promoting generosity and giving back to those in need. The idea behind the National Day of Giving is to counterbalance the consumerism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday by shifting the focus to philanthropy and making a positive impact in our communities.  It's a chance for individuals, organizations, and businesses to come together and support causes that are important to them. On this special day, people all around the world support various causes and organizations that are close to their hearts. It's a chance for us to show our generosity and make a difference in the lives of others. Whether it's donating to a local charity, volunteering your time, or spreading awareness about a cause, there are so many ways to get involved on the National Day of Giving.  It'

Empowering Education : A Journey with Project Heena - Phase 01

Education is a powerful tool that has the potential to transform lives and open doors to a brighter future. Unfortunately, not all schools have the necessary resources to provide quality education to their students.  This is where Project Heena, initiated by our passionate members of the Rotaract Club of College of Chemical Sciences stepped in to make a difference. On the 13th of October 2023, our visit to St. Mary's Tamil Maha Vidyalaya, Bambalapitiya, an underprivileged school facing a shortage of teachers in the secondary section, became a memorable experience of knowledge sharing and empowerment. The workshop conducted by our dedicated team focused on revising science subjects - biology, chemistry and physics - for students in the current Ordinary Level Examination classes.  We understood the importance of a strong foundation in these subjects and aimed to bridge the learning gaps.
