Empowering Education : A Journey with Project Heena - Phase 01

Education is a powerful tool that has the potential to transform lives and open doors to a brighter future. Unfortunately, not all schools have the necessary resources to provide quality education to their students.

This is where Project Heena, initiated by our passionate members of the Rotaract Club of College of Chemical Sciences stepped in to make a difference. On the 13th of October 2023, our visit to St. Mary's Tamil Maha Vidyalaya, Bambalapitiya, an underprivileged school facing a shortage of teachers in the secondary section, became a memorable experience of knowledge sharing and empowerment.

The workshop conducted by our dedicated team focused on revising science subjects - biology, chemistry and physics - for students in the current Ordinary Level Examination classes.

We understood the importance of a strong foundation in these subjects and aimed to bridge the learning gaps. Through interactive sessions, visual aids, and engaging activities, we made the learning experience fun and accessible. The students actively participated, asking questions and seeking clarification for better understanding.

Our commitment to the students extended beyond the classroom. We took the time to answer their doubts, ensuring that they felt supported and encouraged in their educational journey. To celebrate their hard work and dedication, we provided refreshments at the end of the workshop. It was heartwarming to witness their smiles and gratitude, knowing that we had made a positive impact on their lives.

Project Heena - Phase 01 was made possible through the collective efforts of our Rotaract club members, who shared a common goal of empowering education. The collaboration between our club and St. Mary's Tamil Maha Vidyalaya showcased the strength of community support. Together, we created an environment that fostered learning, growth, and inspiration.

This project stands as a testament to the power of education and the impact that a dedicated group of individuals can make. We not only enhanced the students' academic knowledge but also instilled a sense of confidence and motivation within them.

Through initiatives like Project Heena, we can create a world where every child has equal access to quality education and the opportunity to thrive.
