Unfolding a New Chapter: 13th Transition Meeting of RAC CCS (2025/26)


An evening of reflections, celebrations, and new beginnings, the Rotaract Club of the College of Chemical Sciences came together on the 31st of July 2025 to mark its 13th Transition Meeting. Guided by the inspiring slogan for the RI year 2025/26, “Spark the change, be the light,” the event highlighted the true spirit of leadership, service, and fellowship that defines Rotaract, blending gratitude for the past with excitement for the future.


Celebrating a Remarkable Year

The evening commenced with the house being called to order by the outgoing Sergeant at Arms, Rtr. Dinethmin Jayasekera, in accordance with protocol.

The outgoing Joint Secretaries, Rtr. Bilal Salahudeen and Rtr. Sathnara Fernando, then presented the annual report. They beautifully recapped the club’s journey over the past year, from community outreach programs and environmental campaigns to professional development sessions and inter-club collaborations, showcasing the lasting impact of their efforts.

The outgoing board members were honored for their dedication, resilience, and commitment to the Rotaract motto, “Fuel the hope, forge the change.”


Passing the Baton

The highlight of the evening was the bestowal of the presidential collar upon Rtr. Nazeem Cassim, officially recognizing him as the President of the Rotaract Club of the College of Chemical Sciences for the RI year 2025/26.

With heartfelt gratitude, the outgoing committee members gracefully passed on their responsibilities, badges, and leadership tools to the incoming board.

In his first address as President, Rtr. Nazeem Cassim inspired the audience with a powerful message on unity, innovation, and meaningful service. He reminded everyone that they are not only continuing a legacy, but expanding it, with fresh ideas, bold goals, and an even stronger connection to the community.

Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, and Other Esteemed Guests

The evening was further enriched by the presence of distinguished guests.

The Chief Guest, PHSM Rtn. Narmada Muller, President of the Rotary Club of Colombo Regency, expressed her admiration for the event’s seamless organization and professionalism. She also extended an exciting invitation to the club to collaborate on one of their upcoming community service projects, a gesture that symbolized recognition, encouragement, and the promise of new partnerships.

The Guest of Honour, PHF PP Rtn. Gehan de Alwis, Youth Service Chair of the Rotary Club of Colombo Regency, shared heartfelt words that reminded the audience of what it truly means to be a Rotaractor.

Adding to the inspiration, Club Mentor Dr. Asanka Rathnayake expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the outgoing board and encouraged the incoming board to pursue new projects with enthusiasm and dedication.

The presence of Rotaract members of IchemC underscored the unity, fellowship, and brotherhood shared within the larger Rotaract family.


A Vision for the Year

The Rotaract Club of CCS now steps into another impactful year, driven by a passionate team and a shared sense of purpose. The transition meeting not only symbolized change, but also reaffirmed the club’s unwavering commitment to service, fellowship, and leadership.

Guided by the inspiring slogan for the RI year 2025/26, “Spark the change, be the light,” the incoming board outlined their vision for the year ahead, to become a powerful and positive force in society by starting change from the very first step.

Here’s to a new term filled with innovation, community engagement, and a stronger Rotaract spirit.
