''What may be a matter of moments to you could potentially mean the whole lifetime for someone in need of a blood transfusion"
'Give the gift of life', a blood donation camp organized by the Rotaract Club of the College of Chemical Sciences (CCS) and the Rotaract Club of Katugastota Region, was held on 8 December, with the collaboration of the Blood Bank of the Peradeniya hospital.

Dozens of volunteers, including a large number of youth, flocked at the St. Anthony's Cathedral in Kandy to be a part of the camp.
The project was chaired by Rtr.Haneen Packeerally of the Rotaract Club of CCS and Rtr. Buwaneka Wijetunge of the Rotaract Club of Katugastota Region.
The helpful and friendly team of nurses, doctor and public health inspector ensured volunteers were screened and were physically fit to donate.

According to the National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS) of Sri Lanka, an individual is eligible to donate blood if he/she is between 18 and 60 years of age, free from serious ailments and should have a minimum haemoglobin level of 12g/dL . Regular donors should allow a four-month lapse between consecutive donations.
Members of both clubs distributed leaflets across Kandy to spread the word prior to the project. In addition, the Rotaract Club of CCS distributed registration forms for their eye donation project 'Be the light', a collaborative effort with the Sri Lankan eye donation society.



The project was a success, with the combined effort of the presidents ,Rtr. Dilendra Nilupuli Wijesekara and Rtr Usama Liyaudeen and their Boards.
The Rotaract Club of CCS and the Rotaract Club of the Katugastota Region are extremely grateful to Fr. Ivan Jayasundara of St. Anthony's Church of Kandy for his generosity and assistance in facilitating the project by making the parish hall of St. Anthony's Church available.

Our heartfelt gratitude is extended to all volunteers for selflessly giving'the gift of life' to those in need.
We also thank the members of the Rotaract Club of Kandy for their presence, the release concluded.

Making a Life-Saving Impact : Drops of Hope 23'

On October 6, 2023, the Rotaract Club of College of Chemical Sciences joined forces with the Rotaract Club of Katugastota Region and the Interact Club of Kingswood College to organize a remarkable blood donation campaign, Drops of Hope 23’ , at the Kandy Baptist Church. With over 60 generous donors stepping forward, the campaign proved to be a resounding success. The importance of blood donation cannot be overstated. It is a selfless act of giving that has the power to save lives and offer hope to those in need. Every day, countless individuals face medical emergencies that require blood transfusions.
