Beginning of a New Era - Transition Meeting 2024-25

The Rotaract Club of College of Chemical Sciences buzzed with anticipation on July 12th, 2024, as they geared up for their 12th Transition Meeting. This yearly event signifies a fresh start for the club, as the Board of Officials for the Rotary International Year 2024-25 assumes their roles.

Rtr. Dinuka Thilan, the outgoing Sergeant-At-Arms for the year 2023-24, called the house to order. Following protocol, the meeting was then officially called to order by Rtr. Sayumi Tissaratchy, the Outgoing President.

Rtr. Sayumi Tissaratchy, whose leadership steered the club to significant achievements during the previous year, extended a warm welcome to all attendees. The event commenced with the National Anthem, followed by the observance of the Rotaract formalities.

The outgoing secretaries, Rtr. Harini Sadewani and Rtr. Tharin Kulawardena then presented the Annual Report. The report detailed the club's impressive accomplishments throughout the 2023-24 year. They expressed their sincere gratitude to all supporters, including the outgoing Board of Officials, for their unwavering support.

Following the presentation of the Annual Report, the outgoing President delivered a heartfelt address to the assembled members. She expressed her sincere gratitude to her team and everyone who provided unwavering support throughout the year. Concluding her remarks, she extended her congratulations to the incoming President and Board of Officials, ushering in a new chapter for the Rotaract Club of College of Chemical Sciences.

In a symbolic gesture marking the culmination of the transition ceremony, Outgoing President Rtr. Sayumi Tissaratchy bestowed the presidential collar upon Rtr. Sarika Nandasekaran. This marked the official induction of Rtr. Sarika Nandasekaran as the President of the Rotaract Club of College of Chemical Sciences for the Rotary International year 2024-25.


In her speech, Rtr. Sarika Nandasekaran acknowledged the incredible work of the outgoing office bearers. She then unveiled the club's theme for the upcoming year: "Fuel the Hope, Forge the Change." This powerful theme underscores a commitment to transforming the hope that drives us into tangible results through dedicated action.

Afterwards, the Incoming President along with the Incoming Vice President Rtr. Shenel Perera, introduced the Executive Committee and the Board of Officials for the year 2024-25. 

The Transition Meeting was also a chance to hear from the experienced who offered their wisdom and well wishes. Rotarian Past President Ramesh Seneviratne, Youth Service Chair of the Rotary Club of Colombo Regency, offered insightful reflections and well wishes for the year ahead. His address resonated with the audience, providing a valuable perspective amidst the currents of change. 

Following the insightful speech, Rtr. Past President Santhamurthy Balamurthy, Guide Club Coordinator of the Rotaract Club of College of Chemical Sciences for the upcoming Rotary International Year shared his valuable thoughts and heartfelt wishes for the year ahead.

Subsequently, the District Rotaract Representative Elect Rtr. Past President Nazmi Mahamood took the stage where he appreciated Rtr. Sayumi Tissaratchy and her Outgoing Board of Officials for their excellent work. His enthusiastic words brimmed with encouragement for the new office bearers, as he delivered his well wishes for the incoming year.

Finally, the Incoming Secretaries, Rtr. Sathnara Fernando and Rtr. Bilal Salahudeen, expressed their sincere gratitude to everyone who attended. They acknowledged the valuable time and contributions of both participants and guests.

As the final words of thanks echoed through the room, a new era dawned for the Rotaract Club of College of Chemical Sciences. The incoming team officially assumed their positions, their eyes set on ambitious goals. With a shared vision and a collective spirit, they're determined to propel the club to even greater heights in the 2024-25 year.
