Caring for our elders and preserving their dignity is one of the most noble forms of Community service. As senior citizens, having a clean, comfortable, and uplifting environment plays a vital role in their emotional and physical well-being. Recognizing this, the Saukyadana Unit of College of Chemical Sciences and the Community Service Avenue of Rotaract Club of College of Chemical Sciences came together to launch Project එකමුතු, a joint initiative dedicated to giving back to those who paved the way for our generation.

A Day of Service and Togetherness

On a bright and meaningful day, Rotaractors and the members of Saukyadana Unit of CCS gathered at the Victoria Elders’ Home in Rajagiriya with a shared purpose: to bring warmth and comfort to the resident elders. Armed with cleaning supplies, enthusiastic hearts, and helping hands, the team set out to deep-clean, organize, and refresh the surrounding areas and garden spaces of the home. Every corner cared for and every task completed aimed to make the environment brighter, safer, and more welcoming for the senior residents.

Uniting Hands and Hearts Behind the Scenes

Project එකමුතු was built on the core values of teamwork and compassionate action. Prior to the event, volunteers from both Saukyadana Unit and Rotaract club of CCS coordinated closely to organize equipment, allocate tasks, and ensure the project was executed smoothly. On the day of the drive, volunteers worked side-by-side tidying up garden areas and surrounding space. The shared effort not only revitalized the physical space of the home, but also fostered a deep sense of fellowship and unity among the club members involved.

Creating Smiles and Cherished Moments

Beyond the physical work, the heart of Project එකමුතු lay in the human connection. Throughout the day, Rotaractors and the members of Saukyadana Unit took the time to converse with the elders, listening to their life stories, sharing laughs, and offering warm companionship. For many of the residents, having young, vibrant faces around brought an immense sense of joy and comfort. The atmosphere was filled with genuine smiles, heartwarming interactions, and mutual appreciation, making the day as rewarding for the volunteers as it was for the residents.

Meaningful Impact & Looking Ahead

The Initiative concluded on a deeply satisfying note, leaving Victoria Elders’ Home refreshed and its residents deeply touched by the kindness shown. The management and residents expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Rotaract Club for their dedication and thoughtful service. 

Project එකමුතු proved to be more than just a cleaning drive-it was a reminder of the power of unity, kindness, and intergenerational empathy. The Rotaract Club of College of Chemical Sciences extends its gratitude to everyone who contributed to making this project a success. Guided by the spirit of service, RACCCS remains committed to uplifting communities and spreading warmth wherever it is needed most.
