The Rotaract Zest is an annually conducted project by the Rotaract Club of College of Chemical Sciences as a tradition to welcome the newly joined Rotaractors from the junior batch. For this year, 2018 it was held on the 9th of July at the PPGL Siriwardana Auditorium.

The day started off with an introduction to Rotaract using multimedia presentations. A special thanks goes out to Dr.Chinthaka Ratnaweera for taking his time to share a few words with us and for inspiring our new Rotaractors.
The new Rotaractors were then made to introduce themselves with a little bit of personal information they were comfortable sharing to everyone present there as everyone was yet to get to know them. Following that the Immediate Past President Rtr. Dilendra Wijesekara shared her experiences she has gained through Rotaract with the audience and conveyed its vast importance to us as both Rotaractors and citizens of this country.
A task for all the recent members were given which was to get into teams and to construct a project proposal for each of the four avenues: Community Service, Public Relations, Internal Understanding and Club Service. The outcome of this was brilliant and unexpected, they were all bubbling with the most amazing project ideas within such a short period of time, just watching them present these with such enthusiasm assured us that next year we will be handing over the Club to a trust-worthy, dedicated and a loyal set of Rotaractors.
Moving on from the formalities, a few fun items too were organized as an ice-breaker, with the aim of giving a chance for these young ones to get to know themselves and to bring their amusing sides out. This was the biggest highlight of the event as it consisted of dancing, singing and acting all in one! The auditorium was filled with a loud buzz of excitement and laughter throughout. It was a reminder of how enjoyable Rotaract can be when you engage and take part in it.
End of the day, all new and current Rotaractrors were all very well acquainted, the cold and strange atmosphere that was present in the morning had diffused into a warm, friendly and sociable environment, achieving the key objective of this program. We received a lot of positive feedback following this project from our new members, as it was a perfect fun yet educational demonstration of Rotaract and its movement.
