WORLD TEACHERS DAY

                                                           

 Out of all the words, the word “Teacher” is one of the most memorable and familiar words for all of us. So actually who is this “Teacher”?. A teacher is a person who teaches, especially in a school. According to the Sinhala language, the meaning of the “Teacher” is the person who is worthy to be respected. The teacher is highly regarded in society for his honourable service.

  UNESCO has reserved an international day to celebrate the teachers and that is “Teacher’s day”. UNESCO declared October 5th as the World Teachers Day, in 1994  and since then it is celebrated worldwide on the 5th day of October every year, but in Sri Lanka, it is celebrated on the 6th of October. Although UNESCO has set a specific date for a celebration, the government of a particular country may choose another date for its purposes and some reasons. Because of that Sri Lanka celebrates Teachers day on the 6th of October. The reason for this was the “Sri Lanka teachers service minute” was passed on October 6th,1994 as a result of teachers' long-term Struggle. Because of the COVID-19 crisis, the 2021 World Teachers’ Day will focus on the support teachers need to fully contribute to the recovery process under the theme “Teachers at the heart of education recovery”

This day commemorates the anniversary of the adoption of the 1966 ILO UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers. Interestingly, it was adopted in a special intergovernmental conference convened by UNESCO in collaboration with the ILO, in Paris. According to the official website of UNESCO, “This recommendation sets forth the rights and responsibilities of teachers as well as international standards for their initial preparation and further education, recruitment, employment, teaching and learning conditions.”

In Sri Lanka too, World Teachers Day is celebrated on October 6th as a state festival. This day is celebrated in every school with glory. Students organize special ceremonies to appreciate teachers' work and organize special parties for their teachers. If teacher’s Day falls during the weekend, each school will choose a different day to celebrate Teacher’s Day.  Because of the current situation, we do not have to celebrate “ The World Teacher's Day” physically in schools, but let us all celebrate the teachers in our hearts today.

“If the teachers are stars, they aim to see their students shine like suns. Sun's lights up the whole universe. But the stars remain like stars.”

ලෝක ගුරුවරුන්ගේ දිනය

අපේ ජීවිතයේ අපි අසා ඇති හුරුපුරුදු වචන වලින් ප්‍රධානතම තැනක් ගන්න, කාටත් ඉතාමත්ම මතකයේ රැඳි වචනයක් තමෛ "ගුරුවරයා" කියන වචනය. 

ගරු කිරීමට සුදුසු තැනැත්තා ගුරුවරයා වෙයි. සිය ගෞරවාන්විත සේවාව නිසා සමජයෙන් වන්දනීයත්වයට භාවිත වන මෙම ගුරුවරයාට ගුරු දෙවියන් යැයි කියනු ලබයි.

ගුරුවරුන් සැමරීම සඳහා යුනෙස්කෝ සංවිධානය ජාත්‍යන්තර දිනයක් වෙන් කර ඇති අතර එය "ගුරු දිනය" වේ. යුනෙස්කෝව 1994 දී ඔක්තෝබර් 5 වෙනිදා ලෝක ගුරු දිනය ලෙස ප්‍රකාශයට පත් කළ අතර එතැන් සිට එය සෑම වසරකම ඔක්තෝම්බර් 5 වන දින ලොව පුරා සමරනු ලබන නමුත් ලංකාවේ එය ඔක්තෝබර් 6 වන දින සමරනු ලබයි. යුනෙස්කෝව විසින් සැමරුමක් සඳහා නිශ්චිත දිනයක් නියම කර තිබුණද, යම් රටක රජයකට තමන්ගේම අරමුණු සහ යම් යම් හේතුන් මත වෙනත් දිනයක් තෝරා ගත හැකිය. එම හේතුව නිසාම ඔක්තෝබර් 6 වෙනිදා ශ්‍රී ලංකාව ගුරු දිනය සමරයි. ගුරුවරුන්ගේ දිගුකාලීන අරගලයේ ප්‍රතිඵලයක් ලෙස 1994 ඔක්තෝබර් 6 වන දින "ශ්‍රී ලංකා ගුරු සේවා ව්‍යවස්ථාව" සම්මත වීම එයට හේතුවයි. කොවිඩ් -19 අර්බුදය හේතුවෙන්, 2021 ලෝක ගුරු දිනය, "අධ්‍යාපනයේ ප්‍රකෘතිමත් වීමේ හදවතේ ගුරුවරු" යන තේමාව යටතේ, පුනරුත්ථාපන ක්‍රියාවලියට ගුරුවරුන්ගේ පූර්ණ දායකත්වය ලබා දීම සඳහා සහයෝගය දැක්වීම කෙරෙහි අවධානය යොමු කෙරේ.

මෙම දිනය ගුරුවරුන්ගේ තත්ත්වය පිළිබඳව 1966 ILO යුනෙස්කෝ නිර්දේශය සම්මත කර ගැනීමේ සංවත්සරය සමරනු ලබයි. උනන්දුවක් දක්වන කරුණ නම් එය පැරීසියේ දී  සමඟ සහයෝගයෙන් ILO යුනෙස්කෝව විසින් කැඳවන ලද විශේෂ අන්තර් රාජ්ය සමුළුවක දී සම්මත කර ගැනීමයි. යුනෙස්කෝවේ නිල වෙබ් අඩවියට අනුව, “මෙම නිර්දේශය මඟින් ගුරුවරුන්ගේ අයිතිවාසිකම් සහ වගකීම් මෙන්ම ඔවුන්ගේ මූලික සූදානම සහ වැඩිදුර අධ්‍යාපනය, බඳවා ගැනීම්, රැකියා, ඉගැන්වීම් සහ ඉගෙනුම් කොන්දේසි සඳහා ජාත්‍යන්තර ප්‍රමිති දක්වා ඇත.”

ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ද ලෝක ගුරු දිනය ඔක්තෝබර් 6 වන දින රාජ්‍ය උත්සවයක් ලෙස සමරනු ලබයි. සෑම පාසලකම මෙම දිනය උත්කර්ෂවත් ලෙස සමරනු ලබයි. ගුරුවරුන්ගේ වැඩ අගය කිරීම සඳහා සිසුන් විශේෂ උත්සව සංවිධානය කරන අතර ඔවුන්ගේ ගුරුවරුන් සඳහා විශේෂ සාද සංවිධානය කරති. සති අන්තයේ ගුරු දිනය යෙදී ඇත්නම්, සෑම පාසලක්ම ගුරු දිනය සැමරීම සඳහා වෙනස් දිනයක් තෝරා ගනී. වර්තමාන වාතාවරණය හේතුවෙන් අපට “ලෝක ගුරු දිනය” භෞතිකව පාසැල් වශයෙන් සැමරිය යුතු නැත, නමුත් අපි සැම දෙනාම අද අපේ හදවතින්ම ගුරුවරුන් සමරමු.

ගුරුවරුන් තරු නම්, ඔවුන්ගේ අරමුණ නම්, තම දරුවන් හිරු එළිය මෙන් බැබළෙනු දැකීමයි. සූර්යයන් මුළු විශ්වයම ආලෝකවත් කරයි. නමුත් තාරකා තවමත් තාරකා මෙන් පවතී.

                                            

உலக ஆசிரியர் தினம்

அனைத்து வார்த்தைகளிலும், "ஆசிரியர்" என்ற வார்த்தை நம் அனைவருக்கும் அறியப்பட்ட மற்றும் மறக்கமுடியாத வார்த்தைகளில் ஒன்றாகும். உண்மையில் இந்த "ஆசிரியர்" என்பவர் யார்?. ஆசிரியர், குறிப்பாக பள்ளியில் கற்பிக்கும் நபர். சிங்கள மொழியின் படி "ஆசிரியர்" என்பதன் அர்த்தம் மரியாதைக்குரிய நபர். ஓர் ஆசிரியர் தனது பணியை உறுதியுடன் மற்றும் அர்ப்பணிப்புடனும் ஆற்றுவதனால் சமூகத்தில் மிகுந்த மரியாதைக்குரியவராக கருதப்படுகின்றார்

                                                           

ஆசிரியர்களைக் கொண்டாட டும் வகையில் யுனெஸ்கோ சர்வதேச ஆசிரியர் தினத்தை 1994 ஆம் ஆண்டு அக்டோபர் 5 ஆம் தேதி அறிவித்தது. அதன் பின் ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் அக்டோபர் 5 ஆம் தேதி உலகளவில் ஆசிரியர் தினம் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. ஆனால் இலங்கையில், அக்டோபர் 6 ஆம் தேதி கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. யுனெஸ்கோ ஒரு கொண்டாட்டத்திற்கு ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட தேதியை நிர்ணயித்திருந்தாலும், ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட நாட்டின் அரசாங்கம் அதன் சொந்த நோக்கங்களுக்காகவும் சில முக்கிய  காரணங்களுக்காகவும் மற்றொரு தேதியை தேர்வு செய்யலாம். அதன் காரணமாக இலங்கை அக்டோபர் 6 ஆம் தேதி ஆசிரியர் தினத்தை கொண்டாடுகிறது. ஆசிரியர்களின் நீண்டகால போராட்டத்தின் விளைவாக அக்டோபர் 6, 1994 அன்று "இலங்கை ஆசிரியர் சேவை நிமிடம்" நிறைவேற்றப்பட்டது. கோவிட் -19 நெருக்கடியின் காரணமாக, 2021 உலக ஆசிரியர் தினம் "கல்வி மீட்பின் இதயத்தில் ஆசிரியர்கள்" என்ற கருப்பொருளின் கீழ் மீட்பு செயல்முறைக்கு ஆசிரியர்கள் முழுமையாக பங்களிக்க வேண்டிய ஆதரவில் கவனம் செலுத்தும்.

இந்த நாள் ஆசிரியர்களின் நிலை குறித்த 1966இல்  ILO யுனெஸ்கோ பரிந்துரையை ஏற்றுக்கொண்ட ஆண்டு நிறைவை நினைவு கூர்கிறது. சுவாரஸ்யமாக, இது பாரிஸில் ஐஎல்ஓ உடன் இணைந்து யுனெஸ்கோவால் கூட்டப்பட்ட ஒரு சிறப்பு அரசுக்கு இடையேயான மாநாட்டில் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளப்பட்டது. யுனெஸ்கோவின் அதிகாரப்பூர்வ வலைத்தளத்தின்படி, "இந்த பரிந்துரை ஆசிரியர்களின் உரிமைகள், பொறுப்புகள், அவர்களின் ஆரம்ப பயிற்சி, மேலதிக கல்வி, ஆட்சேர்ப்பு, வேலைவாய்ப்பு, கற்பித்தல் மற்றும் கற்றல் நிலைமைகளுக்கான சர்வதேச தரங்களை அமைக்கிறது."

இலங்கையிலும் உலக ஆசிரியர் தினம் அக்டோபர் 6 ஆம் தேதி அரசு விழாவாகக் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. இந்த நாள் ஒவ்வொரு பள்ளியிலும் சிறப்பாக கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. மாணவர்கள் ஆசிரியர்களின் பணியை பாராட்டும் வகையில் சிறப்பு விழாக்களை ஏற்பாடு செய்கிறார்கள் மற்றும் தங்கள் ஆசிரியர்களுக்கு சிறப்பு விருந்துகளை ஏற்பாடு செய்கிறார்கள். வார இறுதி நாட்களில் ஆசிரியர் தினம் வந்தால், ஒவ்வொரு பள்ளியும் ஆசிரியர் தினத்தை கொண்டாட வெவ்வேறு நாளை தேர்வு செய்யும். தற்போதைய சூழ்நிலையின் காரணமாக, "உலக ஆசிரியர் தினத்தை" நாங்கள் பள்ளிகளில்  கொண்டாட முடியாத நிலையில் இருக்கிறோம், ஆதலால் நாம் அனைவரும் இன்று உலக ஆசிரியர் தினத்தன்று நமக்கு கற்ப்பித்த ஆசிரியர்களைக் இதயத்தில் கொண்டாடுவோமாக. 

ஆசிரியர்கள் நட்சத்திரங்களாக இருந்தால், அவர்கள் தங்களின் மாணவர்கள் சூரியனைப் போல பிரகாசிப்பதை காண நோக்குவர் . சூரியன் முழு பிரபஞ்சத்தையும் ஒளிரச் செய்கிறது ஆனால் நட்சத்திரங்களோ நட்சத்திரங்களைப் போலவே இருக்கும்.
