SPARK OF HOPE: PHASE II

 SPARK OF HOPE: PHASE II

³

The project Spark of Hope - Phase 2, organized by the Community Service Avenue of the Rotaract Club of College of Chemical Sciences, focused on supporting children living with Cerebral Palsy. This phase was carried out as a continuation of Phase 1, which aimed to raise awareness about Cerebral Palsy among pregnant mothers through an educational seminar and a video that shared a mother’s personal experience raising a child with Cerebral Palsy. Building on that awareness, Phase 2 focused on directly engaging with and supporting children affected by the condition.
This phase combined donations, learning support, and inclusive activities to address both the practical needs and emotional wellbeing of the children.

One of the most meaningful contributions of the project was the donation of a hoist to the centre. For children with Cerebral Palsy, moving between wheelchairs and activity spaces often requires assistance. The hoist helps make these transfers safer and more comfortable for the children while also reducing the physical strain on caregivers. This equipment will continue to support the daily routines at the centre for years to come.

Along with the donation, our volunteers spent the day interacting with the children and organizing activities. Simple games, colouring sessions, and group activities were planned so that children with different physical abilities could participate comfortably. These activities encouraged creativity, interaction, and confidence while creating a fun and welcoming environment.

Learning materials were also distributed to support the children’s education. These resources were selected to be accessible and suitable for their needs, helping them engage with learning in a way that works best for them.

The day was filled with smiles, laughter, and meaningful moments. Volunteers spent time guiding, encouraging, and simply being present with the children throughout the activities. The inclusive environment allowed the children to interact freely with others at the centre, creating a sense of connection and belonging.

Overall, Spark of Hope - Phase 2 showed how small acts of support, combined with genuine human connection, can make a meaningful difference. By moving from awareness to action, the project helped create a positive and memorable experience for children living with Cerebral Palsy while strengthening our club’s commitment to inclusive community service.
